A novel solar absorptive coating developed for the solar power absorbers provides exceptional optical absorption and thermal stability at a temperature of 700°C in air environment.
The present absorptive solar coating based on silicone paints has long term stability issues and degrades with time at elevated temperatures > 600°C.
The new solar absorptive composite coating is based on micronized spinel powders, glass frit and polymer binder and can be applied on the Ni alloy surface by EPD, spraying, dipping or brushing methods.
Upon heat treatment of formed coating, the glass frit is melted and forms a high temperature solar absorptive coating.
This coating protects Ni alloy surface from high temperature oxidation and seals micro cracks formed during thermal oxidative stress.
Tube & flat Ni alloy samples with solar absorptive coating

Aging test performed over 1145 hours at 750°C in air of In740 alloy samples with solar absorptive coating.The results indicate the good thermal stability of its optical absorption.
